About the Artisan HER Role at First Quantum Minerals

As an Artisan HER, you will be responsible for executing maintenance tasks that ensure the availability and reliability of mining vehicles and equipment. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to perform all duties in strict compliance with prescribed standards to protect yourself and your colleagues.

Key Responsibilities for Artisan HER Jobs in Solwezi

• Perform preventive maintenance, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations, wheel balancing, and filter replacements to keep equipment operational.
• Diagnose and repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, and body damage based on operator feedback and inspections.
• Conduct test drives to verify vehicle serviceability and adjust controls and systems as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Maintain vehicle appearance through cleaning, washing, and painting.
• Keep accurate records of all services and repairs performed on vehicles.
• Maintain shop equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance.
• Manage costs effectively by utilizing warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, place orders, and verify receipt of items to ensure readiness.
• Continuously update technical knowledge through educational opportunities and reading relevant publications.
• Provide ongoing training and development for direct reports, with an emphasis on supporting Zambian employees.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Completion of Grade 12 (Secondary School Certificate).
• Craft Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair (HER) from a recognized institution.
• Valid ZAQA Certification.
• Class C Driver’s License.
• Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in a mining environment.
• Hands-on experience working with CAT and Hitachi trucks is essential.
