Position Overview for Senior Accountant Jobs in Lusaka

Reporting directly to the CFO and indirectly to the CEO, the Senior Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, maintain accurate records, and support budgeting and forecasting efforts. This full-time, permanent role requires a proactive individual who can ensure compliance with Zambian financial regulations and contribute to the overall financial health of LoanCo’s Zambian operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date financial records including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management accounts for internal and external use.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the Zambian branch.
• Ensure compliance with Zambian tax laws, IFRS standards, and regulatory requirements such as ZRA filings and Bank of Zambia guidelines.
• Manage payroll processing, expense tracking, and vendor payments.
• Support audit processes by providing documentation and liaising with external auditors.
• Monitor loan disbursements, collections, and financial risks in collaboration with the credit and collections manager.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and efficiency improvements.
• Work closely with the admin team on operational finance matters including inventory and asset management.
• Adhere to internal controls and contribute to ongoing financial process improvements.
• Manage and securely store all original supporting financial documents.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or equivalent; part-qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Minimum of three years’ accounting experience, preferably within financial services or lending sectors.
• Strong knowledge of Zambian accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience in budgeting and audit preparation.
• Familiarity with loan management systems is advantageous.
