Position Overview for Senior Accountant Jobs in Lusaka
Reporting directly to the CFO and indirectly to the CEO, the Senior Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, maintain accurate records, and support budgeting and forecasting efforts. This full-time, permanent role requires a proactive individual who can ensure compliance with Zambian financial regulations and contribute to the overall financial health of LoanCo’s Zambian operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain up-to-date financial records including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management accounts for internal and external use.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the Zambian branch.
- Ensure compliance with Zambian tax laws, IFRS standards, and regulatory requirements such as ZRA filings and Bank of Zambia guidelines.
- Manage payroll processing, expense tracking, and vendor payments.
- Support audit processes by providing documentation and liaising with external auditors.
- Monitor loan disbursements, collections, and financial risks in collaboration with the credit and collections manager.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and efficiency improvements.
- Work closely with the admin team on operational finance matters including inventory and asset management.
- Adhere to internal controls and contribute to ongoing financial process improvements.
- Manage and securely store all original supporting financial documents.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or equivalent; part-qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum of three years’ accounting experience, preferably within financial services or lending sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Zambian accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience in budgeting and audit preparation.
- Familiarity with loan management systems is advantageous.
