Position Overview: Delinquency Officer Jobs in Lusaka

As a Delinquency Officer, you will play a critical role in managing overdue loan accounts by applying hands-on strategies to recover outstanding debts. The position requires regular physical visits to clients, follow-up calls, text reminders, and negotiation of repayment plans. Operating primarily in the field from our Lusaka headquarters, you will ensure compliance with repayment agreements while maintaining professionalism and empathy in all client interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Review system records to verify non-performing loans, identify root causes, and recommend practical repayment options.
• Proactively engage clients through physical visits, phone calls, text messages, and emails to negotiate and secure repayment commitments.
• Maintain positive client relationships by offering advice and support to encourage responsible debt management and consistent payments.
• Monitor customer payments to ensure adherence to agreed plans and prevent defaults.
• Follow established collection procedures while identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Document all client interactions accurately in the system, record agreements, and assist in preparing performance reports.
• Provide daily updates to the Delinquency Manager, including insights on recovery progress and collection trends.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; debt recovery training or certification is a plus.
• At least one year of experience in debt recovery or collections roles.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients clearly and persuasively.
• Proven negotiation skills to establish effective repayment solutions.
• Professionalism and empathy when handling client interactions.
• Knowledge of debt collection laws and compliance with industry standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, debt management systems, and report writing.
