Position Overview
The Assistant Driver Manager will play a pivotal role in managing and monitoring driver performance, enforcing discipline, and supervising daily driver activities. Based in the Sakania area of Ndola, the successful candidate will ensure seamless fleet operations, safety compliance, and effective communication between drivers and management.
Key Responsibilities for Assistant Driver Manager Jobs in Ndola
- Logistics and Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of fleet operations including route planning, trip coordination, border clearance, and driver scheduling to ensure timely dispatch and delivery.
- Driver Supervision and Performance: Monitor driver adherence to company policies, conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching and corrective guidance, and lead pre-trip briefings.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce safe driving practices, monitor driver behavior such as speed and fatigue, investigate incidents promptly, and foster a strong safety culture.
- Fleet and Documentation Control: Verify the roadworthiness of vehicles and validity of all necessary documents, conduct pre-dispatch inspections, and maintain accurate trip and delivery records.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Transport & Logistics Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years’ practical experience in cross-border fleet management, logistics, or transport operations.
- Proven track record supervising cross-border truck drivers.
- Possession of a Class CE Driver’s license is an advantage.
- Residency in Ndola or willingness to relocate.
Preferred Skills and Personal Attributes
- Communication: Excellent interaction skills with drivers, operations teams, and management, including report writing and coordination with tracking and dispatch officers.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with GPS tracking systems such as Tramigo, iFleet, and Track & Trace; ability to analyze trip and speed reports; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Leadership and Problem Solving: Strong decision-making capabilities, ability to work under pressure, and uphold high discipline and integrity.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, manage emergencies, and travel as needed to support drivers in transit.
