Position: Head Internal Audit (3 Years Contract)

The Head Internal Audit will lead the internal audit function, providing assurance to the Board and Management on the effectiveness of internal controls, governance, and risk management systems. This role requires a strategic thinker with the ability to oversee audit assignments, supervise audit teams, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies.

Key Responsibilities for Head Internal Audit Jobs in Copperbelt Zambia

  • Manage and oversee the internal audit function to fulfill responsibilities approved by Management and the Board.
  • Ensure the Audit Charter and Internal Audit Manual are current and approved.
  • Develop and implement a flexible annual audit plan for Board Audit Committee approval.
  • Lead evaluations of internal controls, governance, and risk management frameworks.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor audit engagements, ensuring quality and thoroughness.
  • Develop audit strategies providing independent and objective opinions on risk management and controls.
  • Conduct system reliability tests and recommend corrective actions to management.
  • Perform regular financial operation checks to detect errors, fraud, or misstatements.
  • Supervise audit staff to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Prepare accurate and timely audit reports for Management, the Board, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct ad hoc or special audit investigations as requested by the Board or controlling officers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate with a minimum of five ‘O’ Levels.
  • University degree in Accountancy, Auditing, Finance, or related business field; professional qualifications such as ACCA or CIMA are required.
  • At least seven years of post-qualification experience in a similar role within a comparable institution.
  • Membership in the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
  • Valid driver’s license with a minimum of two years’ driving experience, including manual vehicles.
  • Strong ability to anticipate and respond to regulatory, technological, and sectoral changes.
  • Capability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Additional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are advantageous.
