As a Clinical Officer, you will rotate between outpatient and emergency services, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary clinicians to provide comprehensive healthcare to patients and their families. Your responsibilities will include adhering to international best practice guidelines and maintaining patient care standards consistent with MBHS, Zambia National, and WHO treatment protocols.
This position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in emergency medicine, and a strong commitment to professional conduct and continuous development in clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide medical services efficiently, following international best practices and standard treatment guidelines.
- Use ICD 10 coding for all patient consultations.
- Conduct thorough patient history taking and physical examinations, documenting findings accurately.
- Prescribe appropriate treatments and ensure consistent patient follow-up with necessary investigations.
- Record daily patient cases and reconcile any discrepancies in records.
- Refer patients to other facilities when required and counsel clients on treatment compliance.
- Order and interpret diagnostic investigations as needed.
- Deliver health education talks to patients and clients.
- Coordinate patient transport logistics from the First Aid Station (FAS) to appropriate receiving facilities.
- Collaborate effectively with other clinicians to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Respect patient rights and maintain professional conduct at all times.
- Engage constructively with stakeholders including supervisors, safety officers, and paramedics in accordance with FAS and Mining policies.
- Maintain communication channels and perform regular operational checks within the FAS environment.
- Manage consumables and medications following established tracking and ordering policies.
- Support clinical cleaning and upkeep of the FAS environment to MBHS standards.
- Utilize computer skills, including spreadsheets and departmental software, to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Clinical General Sciences.
- Registration and licensure with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience, preferably with exposure to emergency medicine.
