About the Artisan Boilermaker Role

Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Mechanical, the Artisan Boilermaker will play a critical role in fabricating, repairing, modifying, and maintaining heavy steel structures and mining equipment components. This position ensures the safety, reliability, and operational efficiency of vital mining machinery.

The role is full-time and based in Solwezi, Northwestern Province, Zambia. Interested applicants should submit their applications before June 13, 2026.

Key Responsibilities for Artisan Boilermaker Jobs in Solwezi

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair heavy steel structures and components.
• Perform heavy-duty welding on structural steel, buckets, booms, chassis, frames, and wear parts.
• Support fleet availability through effective preventative maintenance procedures.
• Repair cracks, fractures, and structural damage using approved welding standards and procedures.
• Carry out gouging, grinding, cutting, and fitting operations as required.
• Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches.
• Conduct structural rebuilds and reinforcement on heavy mobile equipment including excavators, haul trucks, loaders, drills, graders, and dozers.
• Ensure appropriate pre-heating, post-heating, and heat treatment processes are followed.
• Inspect welds for quality and structural integrity.
• Operate workshop equipment such as MMA, MIG, TIG, FCAW welding machines, oxy-acetylene cutting tools, grinders, and lifting devices.
• Perform field repairs as needed in open pit or plant environments.
• Identify defects, misalignments, and structural weaknesses in equipment.
• Follow any additional reasonable instructions from the Supervisor, Mechanical.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Minimum Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Craft Certificate in a relevant technical field from a recognized institution.
• Membership of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is mandatory.
• At least three years of practical experience as a boilermaker.
• Experience in the mining sector is an advantage.
• All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
