Role Overview and Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant, the Warehouse Clerk will be responsible for managing all warehouse activities with a focus on accuracy, organisation, and compliance. The position requires hands-on involvement in receiving goods, verifying inventory, and maintaining a secure storage environment.
- Warehouse Operations: Receive and inspect incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery notes; prepare and process Goods Received Notes (GRNs); organise inventory using proper labelling and designated bin locations; maintain cleanliness and security of the warehouse.
- Inventory Control: Issue stock only with approved documentation; record inventory movements in the ERP/accounting system; keep accurate bin cards and stock registers; monitor stock levels and alert procurement for reorders; identify obsolete or damaged inventory.
- Stock Verification: Conduct daily spot checks on fast-moving items, monthly cycle counts, and participate in quarterly and annual stock takes; investigate discrepancies and prepare variance reports.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate warehouse records and file all relevant documents such as GRNs and Stock Issue Vouchers; ensure adherence to warehouse procedures; safeguard inventory against loss or damage; uphold health and safety standards.
Qualifications and Competencies for Warehouse Clerk Jobs in Lusaka
Candidates should possess a diploma in Purchasing & Supply, Logistics, Accounting, or a related field, along with a minimum of two years’ warehouse experience. Proficiency in inventory management systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
- Diploma in a relevant discipline (Purchasing & Supply, Logistics, Accounting)
- At least 2 years’ experience in warehouse operations
- Knowledge of inventory management systems
- Good command of Microsoft Excel
