Role Overview: Safety and Quality Officer Jobs in Lusaka

As a Safety & Quality Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe working environment and maintaining high standards of construction quality. Your responsibilities will be evenly split between managing safety protocols and overseeing quality control measures on site. This position demands proactive identification of hazards, rigorous monitoring of workmanship, and fostering a culture of safety and quality among all project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform regular site safety inspections to detect hazards and unsafe conditions.
• Ensure compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe working practices.
• Oversee high-risk operations including working at heights, hot work, lifting, and electrical tasks.
• Lead and support Toolbox Talks, safety briefings, and training sessions.
• Report incidents and near misses, assisting with investigations to identify root causes.
• Conduct thorough quality inspections to verify adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Monitor construction workmanship, materials, and processes to maintain quality benchmarks.
• Document and track safety and quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and checklists related to safety and quality activities.
• Support inspections, testing, and project handover procedures.
• Promote and reinforce a strong safety and quality culture across the project site.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in construction or project site management.
• Solid knowledge of construction safety regulations and quality control processes.
• Proven ability to identify site hazards and quality deficiencies effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication, coordination, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a high sense of responsibility.
• Willingness and ability to work on an active construction/project site.
