Position 1: Project Manager

Location: Petauke, Eastern Province, Zambia

Contract: Fixed-term, 12 months

Reporting To: Program Director

The Project Manager will lead the Sustainable Rural Water Service Delivery Programme covering 78 solar-powered piped water systems. This role provides strategic and technical guidance across water access, sanitation, hygiene, community mobilization, and monitoring and evaluation. The Project Manager will ensure program compliance with LWI global standards and government frameworks while managing stakeholder relations and donor reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project launch and partnership development aligned with LWI’s global strategy and Government Co-Financing Framework.
• Provide visionary leadership to a multidisciplinary team of 17 and oversee the Circuit Rider/Area Pump Minder network.
• Ensure program quality, promote inclusive leadership, and foster innovation within district technical teams.
• Engage with government ministries, district councils, and WASH committees to support co-financing agreements.
• Manage project execution, donor compliance, and prepare timely reports including quarterly performance and sustainability reviews.
• Oversee budget and grant management based in Petauke.
• Maintain system functionality above 95% and supervise recruitment and performance of field staff.
• Manage external consultants and contractors, including RMU software migration.
• Build and sustain relationships with government, church, traditional leaders, and communities across six districts.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Public Health, Development Studies, Water Resources Management, or related discipline.
• 8–10 years of senior-level experience in WASH or rural development program management; PMP or PMD Pro certification preferred.
• Proven personnel and team management skills.
• At least 3 years of financial analysis and budget management experience.

Competencies

• Committed Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Strong knowledge of WASH sector standards, program design, and reporting.
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently in rural settings with minimal infrastructure.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Position 2: Sustainability Coordinator

Location: Petauke, Eastern Province, Zambia

Contract: Fixed-term, 12 months

Reporting To: Project Manager

The Sustainability Coordinator will focus on sustainability planning, systems strengthening, governance support, and advancing government and community ownership of the 78 solar-powered water systems across Eastern and Southern Provinces. This role applies a comprehensive WASH systems strengthening framework to ensure long-term service delivery success.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement WASH systems strengthening across institutional arrangements, infrastructure, regulation, finance, monitoring, and community ownership.
• Lead development and coordination of the Government Co-Financing Memorandum of Understanding with key stakeholders.
• Support capacity building and mentoring of District WASH Committees, Water User Committees, and local authorities.
• Co-organize project launch events and quarterly portfolio reviews with government and community stakeholders.
• Oversee sustainability indicators, conduct annual reviews, and document lessons learned for continuous improvement.
• Support integration of Remote Monitoring Unit data for predictive sustainability planning.
• Promote climate-resilient asset design and environmental safeguards.
• Conduct sustainability risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Development Studies, Community Development, Governance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in WASH sustainability, systems strengthening, or rural service delivery.
• Experience working with government systems, NGOs, and community structures.

Additional Competencies

• Committed Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks and lifecycle costing.
• Excellent facilitation, training, and capacity-building skills.
• Familiarity with WASH-related software and climate-resilient practices.
• Experience in international NGOs is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in local languages and English.
