Limestone Resources Limited, based in Ndola, Copperbelt, Zambia, is seeking a qualified and experienced Payroll Accountant to join our finance team on a fixed-term basis. About the Payroll Accountant Role

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager – Reporting & Treasury, the Payroll Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and processing of salaries and wages for all employees. The role requires maintaining precise payroll accounting records, managing staff debtors and creditors balances, and supporting smooth payroll operations to facilitate prompt payments.

Key Responsibilities for Payroll Accountant Jobs in Ndola

  • Process salaries and wages to guarantee accurate payments on scheduled dates.
  • Distribute electronic pay statements promptly to employees.
  • Receive daily payment and deduction details from Human Resources and other departments for payroll processing.
  • Prepare bank transfer listings for electronic submission and physically deliver manual listings for non-online banks.
  • File PAYE, NAPSA, and NHIMA returns, ensuring timely payments to avoid penalties and interest charges.
  • Compile monthly Labour Returns reports for submission by the 31st of each month.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations and analysis of total payroll costs, including PAYE, NAPSA, staff debtors, and creditors, to support management accounts.
  • Maintain organized payroll accounting records to facilitate internal and external audits.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in payroll accounting and analysis to provide accurate management information.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly statutory and labour reports on outstanding payments to assist financial planning.
  • Extract payroll data from the PMG payroll system and upload it into the ERP system (Navision).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five acceptable O-level passes.
  • A minimum of three years’ relevant work experience in payroll accounting.
  • Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to interact effectively with employees, various departments, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using computers and calculators for accurate payroll processing.
