About the Role: Operations and Maintenance Officer Jobs in Lusaka

As an Operations & Maintenance Officer, you will manage the daily upkeep and troubleshooting of solar PV and battery installations across multiple client sites. This position involves both hands-on technical work—conducting routine and corrective maintenance—and administrative duties such as preparing performance reports and maintaining communication with clients. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will serve as a vital link between Timbuktu and its customers, ensuring optimal system performance and excellent service.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Duties:
  • Conduct routine and corrective maintenance on solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, and related electrical infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve system faults both on-site and remotely, escalating warranty claims to manufacturers when necessary.
  • Monitor system performance data to identify and address underperformance or anomalies proactively.
  • Coordinate spare parts, tools, and logistics for maintenance visits.
  • Ensure compliance with Timbuktu’s health, safety, and quality standards during all operations.
• Administrative and Client-Facing Duties:
  • Prepare and distribute monthly system performance report cards to clients using Timbuktu’s standard templates.
  • Conduct regular client check-in calls to discuss system status, address concerns, and schedule maintenance visits.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service records, and client communication histories.
  • Provide O&M status updates for internal management reporting.
  • Support contract administration related to O&M scope, service level agreements, and warranty tracking.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Technical qualification in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience with solar PV and battery systems, including installation, commissioning, or maintenance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in drafting technical reports and engaging directly with clients.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and dependable with strong follow-through on both technical and administrative tasks.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to client sites throughout the region.
• Previous customer service or client relationship experience is advantageous.
• Available to start immediately.
