Position Overview and Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer at Nava Energy Zambia Limited, you will play a vital role in maintaining and optimizing the operational efficiency of our equipment. Your daily tasks will involve preventive and predictive maintenance, ensuring the availability of critical spares, and maintaining detailed equipment history records. You will also be responsible for preparing regular activity reports and updating our SAP system to support operational transparency and performance tracking.

• Assist in preventive and predictive maintenance of mechanical equipment
• Ensure equipment availability and operational efficiency targets are met
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely availability
• Maintain comprehensive equipment history registers
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports
• Update SAP records accurately
• Work towards achieving key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Conduct safety-focused Tool Box Talks
• Inspect personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools regularly
• Prepare and update Safe Maintenance Procedures (SMPs) and Risk Assessment Documents (RADs)
• Follow and promote safe maintenance practices at all times
• Support maintenance activities related to coal handling, line handling, and firefighting systems

Qualifications and Experience Required for Mechanical Engineer Jobs in Maamba

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and possess a minimum of five years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within a power plant or heavy industrial setting. The ideal applicant will demonstrate strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally in power generation or heavy industry
• Proven ability to maintain equipment and manage spare parts efficiently
• Familiarity with SAP systems and safety compliance procedures
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external vendors

Reporting Structure and Work Environment

The Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Area In-Charge and will receive support and supervision from supervisors and technicians. Collaboration extends internally to Shift In-Charges, Operators, Electrical, C&I, and Civil Engineers, as well as Safety and Materials In-Charges. Externally, you will liaise with vendors and suppliers to ensure seamless material procurement and service delivery.
