Position Overview: Human Resource Officer Jobs in Lusaka
The Human Resource Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting NHIMA’s workforce by coordinating onboarding, training, and performance evaluation processes. This role requires strong organisational skills to ensure timely assessments and effective staff development initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors and management to maintain accurate performance records and facilitate continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate onboarding and staff orientation programs to ensure smooth integration of new employees.
- Manage the scheduling and processing of probation assessments and annual appraisals, following up on necessary actions.
- Organize training sessions and performance intervention activities, including all logistical arrangements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of staff development and training programs.
- Ensure all employees have clearly defined roles and receive timely performance evaluations.
- Compile and report performance evaluation outcomes to support management decision-making.
- Maintain individual performance tracking records and ensure documentation is up to date.
- Follow up with supervisors and staff to guarantee implementation of evaluation recommendations.
- Prepare scheduled and ad-hoc reports related to personnel activities such as training and evaluations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the human resource function.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics (ZAQA Certified).
- Minimum of a Diploma in Human Resource Management (ZAQA Certified) or related field with three years of relevant experience; or a Degree in Human Resource Management (ZAQA Certified) with at least one year of relevant experience.
- Membership in the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management is mandatory.
Required Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and calendar management.
- Sound knowledge of Zambia’s employment laws and HR best practices.
- Strong database management and record-keeping abilities.
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
