Reporting to the Headteacher and collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Department (Academic) will ensure the highest standards of academic achievement and pupil progress. This role includes a reduced teaching timetable to allow for leadership duties and modelling exemplary classroom practices.

Key Responsibilities for Head of Department Academic Jobs in Mkushi

• Lead the development and implementation of the Primary School curriculum, ensuring alignment with international standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning through effective assessment and data analysis.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Strong commitment to Christian values and alignment with Chengelo School’s vision and mission.
• Recognised teaching qualification and a relevant Bachelor’s Degree.
• Registration with, or eligibility to register with, the Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ).
• Minimum of five years’ successful teaching experience, ideally within the Cambridge Primary Curriculum or a similar international framework.
• Proven leadership experience in curriculum management or middle leadership roles within schools.
• Excellent skills in curriculum planning, assessment, data analysis, and school improvement strategies.
• Experience in mentoring and developing teaching staff through coaching and professional growth.
• Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Passion for enhancing teaching quality and raising pupil achievement.
• Dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Willingness to contribute actively to the spiritual life and wider community of Chengelo School.
