About the Role: Head of Commercial and Sales Jobs in Lusaka

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy of Zambian Business Times. This leadership role involves managing and mentoring the sales team, driving revenue targets, and strengthening ZBT’s position as a premier business media outlet in Zambia.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a robust commercial strategy aligned with organisational goals.
• Achieve annual revenue and profitability targets through effective sales leadership.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team to maximise results.
• Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities to expand market presence.
• Manage and nurture executive-level client relationships to ensure long-term partnerships.
• Negotiate high-value commercial agreements that align with business objectives.
• Grow sponsorships, subscriptions, and strategic partnerships to diversify income streams.
• Prepare accurate forecasts, budgets, and commercial performance reports for executive review.
• Monitor market trends and identify emerging revenue opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with Editorial, Marketing, Production, and Events teams to deliver integrated business solutions.
• Present commercial performance updates and strategic insights to the CEO.
• Drive accountability and uphold a culture of customer excellence throughout the commercial function.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of five years’ progressive commercial experience with a focus on revenue growth.
• At least three years in a sales leadership role, demonstrating effective team management.
• Experience within media, advertising, publishing, broadcasting, or integrated marketing communications sectors.
• Proven track record of consistently exceeding revenue targets and driving business success.
