Role Overview for Field Assistant Jobs in Livingstone

Reporting directly to the Location Manager within the Agricultural Field Operations & Data Collection department, the Field Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the deployment and monitoring of natural soil amendments and other environmental projects. This position requires working independently in rural and remote settings, coordinating closely with farmers, and maintaining meticulous field records to ensure data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the deployment and monitoring of natural soil amendments in farming areas.
• Engage with farmers through registration, enrollment, and field coordination activities.
• Collect soil samples and prepare them for laboratory analysis with accuracy.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of farmer data, field activities, sampling, and deployment.
• Ensure timely, consistent, and complete recording of field information to uphold data integrity.
• Assist in field reporting, verification, and monitoring tasks.
• Support logistical operations including transportation, equipment handling, and material management.
• Perform additional field and logistical duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Graduate Diploma in Agriculture or a related discipline.
• 2–3 years of practical experience in agricultural or environmental field projects, including soil sampling, farmer engagement, or data collection.
• Hands-on experience working directly with farming communities is highly preferred.
• Only candidates residing in Livingstone will be considered.

Essential Skills and Requirements

• Valid motorbike riding license with demonstrated riding experience.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively to remote and rural farming locations.
• Possession of an Android smartphone equipped with a reliable camera and GPS capabilities.
• Basic computer proficiency including MS Word, Excel, email communication, and digital data collection tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively in Tonga.
