Role Overview: Factory Optimisation Engineer – Electrical

Reporting to the Factory Optimisation Engineer, the successful candidate will develop and implement medium- and long-term optimisation strategies for electrical engineering systems. This role focuses on improving production reliability, reducing costs, and enhancing product quality through innovative engineering solutions and rigorous analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop initiatives to deliver products at cost and quality levels that maximize profitability.
• Audit and analyze maintenance systems and processes to identify engineering inefficiencies and opportunities for reliability improvements.
• Create and monitor engineering maintenance and support plans beyond scheduled maintenance activities.
• Minimize production losses by optimizing the performance of engineering systems.
• Conduct benchmarking exercises internally and externally to identify maintenance best practices in collaboration with the Group Specialization Team.
• Recommend sustainable improvements to engineering systems and provide expert advice on maintenance challenges.
• Perform root cause analysis of recurring issues with support from group engineers.
• Develop preventative and preemptive maintenance initiatives utilizing CMMS and data analytics to reduce downtime and costs.
• Build a strong technical team through coaching, mentoring, and training focused on optimisation.
• Coordinate sharing of best practices, frameworks, and standards across entities and with Head Office.
• Foster collaboration with group counterparts to introduce innovative optimisation solutions.
• Maintain effective relationships with maintenance and engineering service providers.
• Ensure technical standards and specifications are upheld and address deviations promptly.
• Oversee onsite engineering drawing services to guarantee compliance with Group best practices.
• Identify and monitor key performance indicators to track operational effectiveness.
• Adhere to company policies including SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption regulations.

Candidate Requirements

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Engineering Degree in Electrical or related discipline, with additional technical development preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environments, with sound knowledge of factory operations.
• Demonstrated technical leadership capabilities.
• Proficient in data analysis and interpretation.
• Strong understanding of business processes and data systems, including SAP4HANA.
• Membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia is required.
