The Debt Collection Officer will be responsible for monitoring customer accounts, negotiating repayment plans, and ensuring compliance with company policies as well as relevant legal regulations. Your efforts will directly contribute to minimizing financial losses from delinquent accounts and supporting the company’s financial health.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and monitor overdue customer payments regularly.
• Engage debtors through telephone, email, letters, and other communication channels to recover outstanding balances.
• Negotiate payment plans and settlements to facilitate debt recovery.
• Follow up on missed payments and broken repayment arrangements promptly.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of collection activities and customer interactions.
• Investigate and resolve queries related to outstanding balances effectively.
• Assess customer financial information to evaluate repayment capacity.
• Prepare and issue demand notices and other collection correspondence.
• Escalate cases requiring legal action or external collection agency involvement.
• Reconcile accounts to ensure accurate balances are maintained.
• Generate reports on collection activities and provide updates to management.
• Ensure strict adherence to company policies, ethical standards, and debt collection regulations.
• Contribute to reducing bad debts and achieving collection targets.

Candidate Requirements

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate with credits in English and Mathematics.
• Diploma or higher qualification in Business Administration, Marketing, Banking and Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 to 3 years of experience in debt collection, credit control, accounts receivable, or similar roles.
• Solid understanding of debt recovery processes and collection techniques.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with accounting or debt management software systems.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and consistently meet targets.
