Role Overview for Boiler Operator Jobs in Lusaka

The Boiler Operator plays a critical role in maintaining optimal boiler performance while adhering to safety, environmental, and statutory regulations. This position requires close monitoring of boiler operations to minimize downtime and support overall plant productivity. The operator will manage the entire boiler system, including fuel and water treatment, while ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and continuously monitor the boiler to maintain a steady steam supply
• Regularly check pressure, temperature, water levels, and fuel systems
• Maintain accurate boiler log sheets and operating records
• Manage proper water treatment and chemical dosing procedures
• Conduct routine inspections of the boiler and auxiliary equipment
• Coordinate with the maintenance team for breakdown repairs and preventive maintenance
• Ensure safe operation in accordance with SOPs and safety standards
• Monitor steam distribution systems to prevent leaks
• Execute boiler start-up and shutdown procedures safely
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the boiler area
• Promptly report any abnormalities or issues to the supervisor
• Support initiatives aimed at energy saving and fuel consumption monitoring

Qualifications and Experience

• Valid Boiler Operator competency certificate or license as required by local regulations
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience operating industrial boilers
• Strong knowledge of steam systems, water treatment, and safety protocols
• Familiarity with various fuel systems including diesel, gas, and coal
