Position Overview for Works Supervisor Jobs in Zambia

As a Works Supervisor, you will oversee all on-site construction operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will act as a Senior Foreman, coordinating teams of workers, subcontractors, and equipment operators while applying your technical expertise in civil engineering and surveying. Your leadership will be vital in managing both roadworks and building projects across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate construction workers, subcontractors, and equipment operators daily.
Ensure all work aligns with technical drawings, specifications, and the approved construction schedule.
Maintain strict compliance with health and safety regulations on site.
Interpret and apply technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to guide construction activities.
Conduct quality control inspections to verify materials and workmanship meet engineering standards.
Prepare daily progress reports, site documentation, and work schedules.
Perform topographical surveys, setting out, and leveling using modern equipment such as Total Stations, GPS, and Dumpy Levels.
Take accurate measurements for quantification and verification of completed work.
Manage projects across different sectors including roadworks (earthworks, drainage, surfacing) and building projects (structural, finishing, MEP coordination).

Requirements and Qualifications

Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; a Degree is advantageous. Trade certification with extensive supervisory experience will also be considered.
At least 5 years of proven supervisory experience within the construction industry.
Demonstrated experience in both road/infrastructure and building/structural projects is highly desirable.
Proficient in surveying techniques and setting out.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings accurately.
Competent in MS Office and basic project management software.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
High integrity and professional ethics.
Willingness to work on-site and travel to various project locations.
