Position Overview

As an Industrial Relations Officer at Mpande Limestone Limited, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining harmonious industrial relations and supporting human resource functions. The position is full-time and based in Zambia, with an application deadline of 1st May 2026.

Key Responsibilities for Industrial Relations Officer Jobs in Zambia

  • Promote and sustain a positive industrial relations environment that supports employee performance while adhering to company policies.
  • Manage disciplinary procedures and resolve employee grievances promptly and fairly.
  • Advise line managers on labour-related matters such as transfers, placements, and promotions in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit separation documentation for departing employees to Payroll efficiently.
  • Coordinate with government bodies including the Labour Office and medical institutions on employee-related issues.
  • Ensure timely submission of compensation claims to the Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board for workplace injuries or fatalities.
  • Continuously monitor the industrial relations climate and report any potential unrest to management.
  • Compile weekly disciplinary and monthly industrial relations reports, along with other reports as required.
  • Assist in recruitment processes including candidate screening and employee induction.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure exiting employees (except those medically discharged) complete exit medical examinations.
  • Oversee leave administration, including leave commutation and sick leave management, and address employee pay queries.
  • Prepare introductory letters for employees requiring banking services, loans, or pay point adjustments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in an industrial relations role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practices and Zambian labour laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster effective working relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, solution-driven mindset.
  • High integrity and discretion in managing confidential information.
  • Mandatory membership with the Zambia Institute of Human Resources Management.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems is essential.

Remuneration

The position offers a competitive gross salary ranging from K7,500 to K8,000.
